MyPocketSkill Empowers GenZs to Earn and Save With UNIPaaS' Digital eWallet System

UNIPaaS offered MyPocketSkill to fully embed their payments process as a full white label solution and it was implemented into their website. Providing this seamless onboarding experience to teens made it simple, as well as complying with the strict regulations of the FCA (in some cases as a joint account with a parent).

The Challenge

MyPocketSkill wanted the capability to offer additional financial services to its customers to further educate and empower teens financially, and position the company as a leading provider of embedded financial services.

MyPocketSkill sought out a provider that was regulated by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as well as a solution that allowed teens to have a financial account according to FCA requirements.  


Working with teens, it was crucial that the payment experience would be embedded into the MyPocketSkill platform (as opposed to sending the teen clients to a third-party platform, like Stripe Connect, an example of something that they had experienced before) with minimal development effort, normally an issue for an early-stage startup.

Another significant challenge MyPocketSkill faced was the time latency of payments. 

When trying to pay suppliers through the platform, it would often take up to two weeks to transfer money into the correct account. This created overheads in customer support calls that were very time-consuming.


MyPocketSkill platform looked for a simple, fast, and cost-effective way to handle payments. 


Results

This allowed MyPocketSkill to empower its GenZ customers to "Earn, Save and Learn", according to their vision. 

 

The UNIPaaS solution also allowed MyPocketSkill to pay its suppliers much faster than before, reducing payment latency from a high of two weeks to near real-time.

As a result, MyPocketSkill experienced a significant reduction in payment-related service calls, saving the company time and resources.

MyPocketSkill's mission is to create a financially empowered GenZ. 

The MyPocketSkill platform helps thousands of teenagers "Earn, Save and Learn" about money and develop a wide range of financial and life skills. 

The company was founded in 2017 by two parents, Matthew Harker and Zara Ransley, to address the gap between teenagers earning pocket money and the opportunity to gain financial independence.

MyPocketSkill has achieved notable success, including funding awards from Innovate UK, the UK's innovation agency, reaching the 2020 Great British Entrepreneur Awards finals, and winning a global fintech competition, sponsored by Atos, Deutsche Bank and Google Cloud. .

Partnering with UNIPaaS

MyPocketSkill sought out a payment solution that offered several key capabilities.
